Braces Alternative Option | Myobrace System
Myobrace System is a no-braces approach to straightening the teeth and aligning the jaws.
Myobrace System uses alternative to braces myofunctional orthodontic techniques to address poor oral habits (known as myofunctional habits) such as mouthbreathing, tongue thrusting, thumb or finger sucking, incorrect swallowing and more in a growing child.
These poor myofunctional habits are the real cause of crooked teeth and incorrectly developing jaws as well as the relapse of any orthodontic treatment.
These poor oral habits cause muscles of the mouth – tongue, lips, and cheeks – apply aberrant pressures on the teeth and jaw bones during breathing, chewing, swallowing, and resting.
Treatment is done through the series of removable oral appliances known as Myobrace™ appliances that are worn 1-2 hours each day and overnight while sleeping.
An integral part of the treatment is a series of myofunctional muscle re-training exercises, which are done once a day for a few minutes.
In many cases, these unique habit correction techniques may correct malocclusions without the need for braces in the future.
In a small number of cases, braces may be needed for a short time to provide optimal teeth alignment.
The Myobrace™ appliances are designed to effectively train the tongue to position correctly on the roof of the mouth, retrain the oral musculature, correct swallowing patterns, and teach the children to breathe through their nose.
The Myobrace™ appliances are also designed to exert light forces on crooked teeth to align them and to create a broader arch form.
This technique is now used by Orthodontists and Dentists in more than 100 countries throughout the world.
